11.00am – 12:00pm Alex Lockwood – How to Turn a Man Vegan in 45 Mins
Less than a third of vegans are men, while many of the biggest health problems and social
factors affecting men’s lives can be significantly improved by moving to a plant-based diet.
So it’s lucky that many more men are now seeing the benefits of a vegan lifestyle—as well
as re-finding their compassion for other beings and the environment. Join Dr Alex Lockwood
(vegan studies scholar and author of The Pig in Thin Air) for a lively, non-judgemental
presentation and interactive debate drawing on his recent research interviews with actors,
sports stars and normal blokes, that explores the links between masculinity and health,
men’s lives and the future of our planet, all in 45 minutes. // @alexlockwood

pollution, is responsible for more greenhouse gases
than the transportation industry, and is a primary
driver of rainforest destruction, species extinction, habitat loss, topsoil erosion, ocean “dead
zones,” and virtually every other environmental ill. Yet it goes on, almost entirely

3:20pm – 4.30pm Peaceable Kingdom: The Journey Home
A riveting story of transformation and healing, PEACEABLE KINGDOM:
THE JOURNEY HOME explores the awakening conscience of several
people who grew up in traditional farming culture and who have now
come to question the basic assumptions of their way of life.
Presented through a woven tapestry of memories, music, and
breathtaking accounts of life-altering moments, the film provides
insight into the farmers’ sometimes amazing
connections with the animals under their care, while also making clear
the complex web of social, psychological and economic forces that
have led them to their present dilemma.
